And they're not wrong to picture that, but what they don't know is that it's so much more. You may not have diapers to buy or daycare to pay for, but we as dog owners still have our fair share of expenses. We pay for daily dog walkers, pet insurance, pet rent, babysitters for when we go on vacation, and replacement furniture because our pupper all of a sudden decided that the couch pillows were their newest chew toys. Memes tend to exaggerate reality, but this one doesn't at all. We could, quite literally, talk about dogs for days on end without a break. That's how much we love doggos. We could talk about dog breeds, how they've changed aesthetically over the past 100 years, the different temperaments of different breeds, why Corgis are the best small-medium breed, and don't even get us started on talking about our dog specifically. We could talk about her cute ears for at least three hours. Ugh, and her smile! It's the cutest. How she wags her tail and just waits for us to join her on the bed when we come home from work…. you see? We even had to stop ourselves here.

Kids are very expensive, but we think a lot of people downplay how expensive it is to be a dog owner in this day and age. We spoke about it earlier in the article, but because we work full-time, we need a dog walker every day. That adds up by the end of the month. Not to mention pet insurance, a monthly subscription for their food, their vitamins and supplements, grooming, and then you have to always budget for an emergency vet visit. Just one of those can set you back a couple of hundred dollars easily.
